Instructions
If you’re looking to refresh your bathroom, then a new coat of paint on the walls can make the biggest impact.
- Fill in any holes or dents on the walls with spackle.
- Allow to dry.
- Sand holes and any rough areas.
- Because this paint will be in the bathroom, we recommend using paint with a semi-gloss finish, for a more durable stain- and moisture-resistant shine.
- Mask off any windows, trim or molding on the wall using painter’s tape.
- Using a 1"- 2" angle brush, cut in before you roll your paint to get a crisp, straight edge along the ceiling, baseboard and corners of the wall. Keep these tips in mind when cutting in:
- Work at a slight angle to the edge you’re painting.
- Press the bristles gently onto the wall until they fan out.
- Now you’re ready to roll. Grab your roller and dip it into the paint tray several times to evenly saturate the entire roller cover.
- Apply light pressure on the wall and paint in a narrow V-shape. Keep these tips in mind when rolling paint:
- Always start and finish into the wet edge of the paint.
- Cover an area about 3 feet wide before moving on.
- Back-roll the painted area for an even finish. Remember to roll in only one direction and overlap each stroke.
- Allow to dry.
Painting your vanity can have your bathroom feeling brand-new as well.
- Remove doors and drawers from your vanity.
- Fill in scratches or holes with spackle.
- Sand any rough areas.
- Paint the doors, drawers and frame of your vanity using a 1"-2" brush and a mini roller.
- Allow to dry.
- Replace doors and drawers.
If you’re not looking for too big of a change or want to add more finishing touches, updating some small features could be just what you’re looking for:
- Replace bath faucets.
- Switch out your shower curtain and shower hooks.
- Update knobs and handles on cabinets.
- Add some small storage.
- Buy new towels.
